C5: Losing a game: the post-game talk
[Hook (text overlay, 0–2s)]
"Look in the mirror first. Be proud of the effort."
[Bad Coach 1] "You guys sucked today. Just not good enough."
[Good Coach 1] "Tough loss, but we deserved to lose, boys.
Our usual effort and quality just wasn't there today.
Our opponents outworked and outplayed us.
But the good news is, I have full confidence in you guys,
and I know we will learn and improve from this."
[Bad Coach 2] (silent, arms crossed, car door slams)
[Good Coach 2] "Tough loss, but I'm proud of our effort.
Fantastic work rate from everyone. We were brave on the ball,
created lots of chances,
and dominated large parts of the game.
We just didn't get the result today. And that's football."
[Bad Coach 3] "The ref, the sun, and those birds flying
above the field cost us the game today."
[Good Coach 3] "I know we're all frustrated, and that's normal.
Yes, some calls didn't go our way.
But ultimately we lost because we weren't good enough today,
not because of the ref.
We have to look in the mirror first and foremost."
[Teach (Sia to camera)]
"How you handle a loss, and what you learn from it,
is the actual lesson.
The score is just an excuse to teach it."
[Rewritten by Sia's Aug 10 doc pass. Exchange 1 = honest 'we deserved to lose'; exchange 2 = proud 'we played well and lost anyway' — both stay. Play the birds line deadpan.]
